What's the Big deal about the truman doctrine?
It was a policy created by U.S. President Harry S. Truman to give aid to Turkey and Greece, so they won't become communist.Briefly, it made it clear that the Americans didn’t trust the Soviet Union in their ideas and decision-making; therefore, they would resist Soviet expansion period whether it be in Europe or elsewhere. Thus, this doctrine impacted the Cold War greatly because Americans set the tone for the Soviet Union that they were serious about containment and other ideas and would probably go to great lengths to stop the Soviet Union. As for the Soviet Union, they saw this as a growing conflict and need to find solutions quickly.
